That is what leadership is all about. If you know what future to bring into existence, all you need is Management, says Erhard et al (2022).
If you know how to bring something into existence either from experience or researching it or by any means, then the path is known and one uses management skills. It is when a group of people have a concern or concerns, that is to say, issues of fundamental importance and the path is not clear. It may be groups that are in conflict with each other and there is no clear resolution to the matters of fundament importance to those groups. The future for the resolution does not exist. It is unclear or at best clouded.
The future needs to be invented. The future is literally unknown to anyone including the parties involved including the leader. This is where leadership is needed. It is literally a creation and there is no formula for it. Speaking and listening is certainly required.
