If we knew the answer to the “hard problem of consciousness”, a keen philosophical inquiry that seeks to answer how the brain generates consciousness, then would life be fulfilling and we would all be satisfied?

If we knew..

Where the edge of the universe is?

Whether Schrodinger’s cat was dead or alive?

How to win at chess every time?

Knowing the answer to what questions would make a difference in the quality of our lives? Or more rigorously said: Knowing (being used by) what distinctions would make a difference for us?

What are the questions to ask? What inquiry will produce something more that just knowing the answer to something that, while interesting and even challenging, does not make a difference in the quality of life? We act like these answers will fulfill us but the problem with epistemological knowledge is that is not the domain which contains the answer to what makes us fulfilled and satisfied. The technological advances (epistemological knowledge) required to put a man on the moon did not impact the USA and Russia Federation relationship in any qualitative way. That is to say we don’t get along any better. It keeps us locked in a dominate and avoid domination kind of world.
